Pulpotomy treatment
Pulpotomy treatment also known as “Pulp therapy” is a pediatric dental procedure carried out on the primary tooth whereby the inflamed pulp chamber is cleaned out, and all the infected tissues removed before the area is sterilized and permanently sealed.[baby molars but sometimes, it is also performed on permanent teeth. The treatment is initiated when the decay in a child's tooth reaches into the pulp (nerve) tissue. The infected part of the nerve tissue within the crown portion of the tooth is removed to prevent further inflammation and spread of disease. A sedative material may be placed within the tooth to prevent bacterial growth and to calm the remaining nerve tissue.]
Indeed, pulp therapy for the vital primary tooth has evolved over the past 20 years with the introduction of new pulp therapy medicaments. It still remains the most widely used treatment for the primary tooth where caries has closely approximated the pulp so that complete removal would expose the pulp.

Pulpotomy treatment is necessary when the pulp chamber in the center of a baby tooth becomes infected as a result of untreated tooth decay which may get close to the pulp chamber or even penetrate it. When this occurs, the tissue in the pulp chamber will become irritated and inflamed. The child may have serious toothache. If pulpotomy treatment is not carried out, the inflammation and infection will continue to spread and may eventually result in an abscess.
The pulpotomy treatment is used to save and restore the tooth. The procedure is very common and is usually successful. The primary objective is to maintain the integrity and health of the teeth and their supporting tissues.〔
